recommendations

we know this trip will not be a short one for some of you- we wanted to give you the low-down on how to get here, where to stay, and what to do when you’re here! there’s so much beauty in the PNW and it’s worth turning your time here into a little getaway at what feels like the edge of the world.

location:

skagit county, washington

~60 minutes north of seattle metro area

nearby towns [to venues]

& lodging:

anacortes

burlington

la conner

mount vernon

all of these towns have vibrant ‘downtown’ areas

with small mom and pop shops and restaurants.

also, waterfronts to admire! [excluding burlington]

check local hotels, AirBNB, and VRBO

for places to stay during your visit-

consider pooling together with friends or family!

transportation

airports:

seattle sirport - seatac [services the most airlines]

paine field - everett

bellingham international airport

public transportation/shuttles:

bellair airporters https://airporter.com/

amtrak

what to do:

plenty of beautiful state parks and county parks to visit– state parks require a day pass ($10 per car) to visit. totally worth it, if you ask us– take a day to hit them all. they’re all unique, with breathtaking views

and wildlife.

[but don’t worry, no bears!]

our favorite [free/non-state] parks:

washington park in anacortes

padilla bay trail

state parks nearby:

deception pass state park  [ps - bowman bay is in deception pass park, this spans between anacortes and whidbey island]

bayview state park [mount vernon]

fort ebey [whidbey island]

joseph whidbey state park [whidbey island]

moran state park [orcas island]

larabee state park [drive along chuckanut doesn’t require a pass]

depending on how much time you have, visiting the san juans is a really special experience. hayley & levi eloped on lopez island, which is a smaller island with plentiful public parks, a small village, and a sweet, tight knit community.

if you walk on to a 60-minute ferry ride to friday harbor [on san juan island], you’ll find yourself in a sweet downtown area with shopping, dining and really beautiful views of the water. you might even see whales on the ride over!

the best way to use the ferry system is to ‘walk-on,’ meaning you don’t drive your car on and are a foot passenger. this way you avoid lines, waiting, and the tickets are

more affordable.

ps - there’s nothing like a sunset ferry ride back to anacortes.
